Patient Caregiver Resource Book
Family caregivers play a vital role in patient recovery, yet are often left without clear guidance or resources. In partnership with Michigan Medicine’s Patient & Family Centered Care Program, we identified this gap through ethnographic research and cross-functional workshops, revealing a consistent need for accessible, actionable caregiver support.
We led the co-design of the Caregiver Resource Book, a print and digital tool developed alongside patient families, care teams, and program leadership. The guide offers practical information, emotional validation, and step-by-step orientation for caregivers navigating complex care journeys—particularly during the transition from hospital to home.
This project demonstrated how design can humanize healthcare by turning deep insight into tangible interventions. The book became a flagship resource within Michigan Medicine, shaping new ways to engage caregivers as essential partners in care.
